Caring for a child with a stoma
Even though it’s often a lifesaving procedure, it’s still difficult to watch your little one undergo stoma surgery. But the hardest part for many parents is feeling fearful or anxious about their child’s needs after surgery.
We’re here to help. With the right support—and a little patience and practice—you’ll soon feel comfortable caring for your child’s stoma care needs. Although each child is different, you can start getting the information you need in our Caring for a Child FAQ. And, of course, we encourage you to ask your pediatric specialist or child’s stoma care nurse any specific medical questions.
